Abstract

The present study was conducted to examine the nutritional requirements and growth of Mekong giant catfish (Pangasianodon gigas). The aspects studied were dietary protein, dietary requirement essential amino acids; methionine rates on growth performance and economic returns in productions of the species. The experiment was conducted at Kalasin Inland Fisheries Station, Thailand.
The study on protein requirement of young Mekong Giant Catfish (Pangasianodon gigas) was conducted using five formulated diets containing 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40% protein with digestible energy of 433 kcal/100 g. The fishes were maintained in each floating net cages with 1.0×1.0×1.5 m3 size, at the stocking rate of 50 fishes/cage.
